BUREAU BOOKCASE

Description

A superb George I burr walnut bureau bookcase of compact proportions retaining excellent colour and patina.  The top section reveals an arrangement of adjustable shelves with concave moulding out-stepped at each corner to form pillars which border an opening single door with a bevelled mirror plate and single candle slide beneath . The fall of the bureau section opens to reveal an arrangement of pigeon holes and a central cupboard and is supported by a pair of lopers which are separated by two short feather banded lined drawers fitted with oval escutcheons and brass ring handles, below a further  three long graduated drawers. The bookcase is supported on burr walnut  bracket feet.  The writing surface is covered by green leather with a very charming patina.
